Strathmore Schools vs Brechin High
Well Strathmore Schools started off well scoring in the first 30 seconds. David Ferguson's break up the left wing saw win cross the line in the corner. The second try came moments later from David Ferguson, again another break and sprint up the left wing. After that Strathmore used there forwards to keep play rolling up the pitch. This lead to multiple tries from Duncan Hampton, Lewis Cowpers and other players who will be credited when we found out who scored. Gary Robb converted many of the tries.
SO Strathmore ended the first half scoring over 8 tries to Brechin's 0.
The 2nd half was broken into two 20 minute periods and was used as a development game. Strathmore made 13 changes during half and played many new, first time players. Brechin started well by scoring in the first 5 minutes but Strathmore replied with a superb try that was not converted. Brechin broke through a gap in the Blacks defence to score their second try but yet again it was cancelled out by a Lewis Cowper try, who ran 50 metres and past 4 defenders to score under the posts. The try was converted by Stephen Greenhill. Strathmore crossed the line in the final minute and the trys' drop goal conversion was unsuccessfull. Starhmore ended the 20 minute period, winning 17-12. The newbies put in a great performance to overcome a strong Brechin resistance.
The 2nd 20 minute period saw Strathmore make even more changes to allow the new players to play with more experienced players and some Strathmore players played for Brechin as they had a few injuries. Strathmore scored 4 tries and Brechin failed to score. Try scorers will be updated when they are identified.
Overall Strathmore gave it all from the start and everyone played well. Thanks to everyone who turned up and played and hope to see you at training next Wednesday.
