Well, it's Christmas time again. Time to put the feet up and indulge in the festivities (and many a mince pie!).
As far a as rugby goes we will be taking a short break for the hoildays but never fear as training will resume as soon as possible in the new year with several events in the making so keep reading!
Enjoy your holidays and I look forward to starting things up again in 2007.
From all the coaching staff,
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Forfar Academy Vs Gairloch High School - Result
On a damp evening on Friday 24th November 2006 Forfar Academy played their first game of the school year against touring Gairloch High School under the floodlights at Inchmacoble Park. The game was designed to allow both teams to start to develop their rugby skills and overall knowledge of the game so it was played in a 'coached' manner split into three 20 minute periods.
Gairloch flew out of the blocks and shocked the home team with the first score of the game after catching the Forfar Team napping. This was not a great start but it was just what the Forfar team needed to realise that this was the 'real thing' and not just a training night.
The Forfar forwards were the first to front up and there were several good carries from all concerned up the centre of the pitch. This then released the backs who simply ran straight and began causing the Gairloch defence problems out wide. 2 quick scores for the Academy team put them back on the front foot and they took the game to Gairloch.
During the rest of the 1st period and 2nd period Forfar showed some impressive movement around the park and only some last gasp defending from the Gairloch team kept the score to a respectable level. All the defending did, however, cause the Gairloch team to tire (no wonder after a 6 hour drive!) and Forfar ran away with some quick scores near the end.
The 3rd period was a mixed game with 4 of the Forfar players switching teams with their Gairloch counterparts. This opened up the game and in the end the team in the Gairloch shirts came away with a moral boosting win no thanks to the try of the match scored by the Gairloch prop forward who sprinted his way from his own half all the way to the tryline.
The night drew to a close with a soup tea generously provided by pupils and parents and a big thank you must go out to all concerned as well as Strathmore RFC for the use of their facilities for the night.
Both teams have a lot to be proud of and should take a lot of positives away from the game. A big thank you to the GHS team for making their way to Forfar and hopefully a return fixture will be organised in the near future as well as some fixtures a bit closer to home.
